Random ‘Did You Know?’

Windows PC DPI versus Mac DPI

After creating an illustration on a Mac computer yesterday, I saved it as an .ai file and a jpeg. I opened the jpeg on my windows pc today and noticed that it looked pixelated.

I researched the problem and found that it was based on differing resolutions between the Mac and  the Windows PC based on dpi (dots per inch).  The higher the dpi, the more refined text or images appear.  The Windows PC has a dpi of 96 while a Mac has merely 72 dpi.

As another aside, most mobile phones have densities as high as 200 or 300 dpi.

Just found that interesting.  Have a great day!
